EVER WONDER WHY IT IS SO HARD TO GET PEOPLE
TO TRY NEW WAYS OF GETTING AROUND?

 IT'S NOT JUST YOU.

You create a good program, service, or travel option.

And yet still:

  • People ignore an option that could help them.
  • They say they will try it, then never take the first trip.
  • They try once, then return to their old routine.

You work hard. The results can still fall short.

A good transportation option can still go unused.

Our field has plenty of useful ingredients: marketing, outreach, incentives, technology, and behavior change theories.

What has been missing is the recipe: one clear way to understand the whole journey people take when trying something new.

Without it, it is hard to see where people are stuck or what kind of help they need.

HOW PEOPLE TRY NEW THINGS IS KNOWABLE.

After 28 years in TDM, I built the system I could not find.

It draws on more than 325 academic papers and books, advanced training with behavioral scientists, and nearly three decades of TDM practice (working across five countries with tens of thousands of people).

The model

Learn the path one person takes from their current routine to considering, trying, and deciding whether to continue with something new.

The system

Use that understanding across audiences, services, and campaigns.

It helps you:

  • See where people are getting stuck.
  • Understand what moves them forward or holds them back.
  • Know where to focus your work next.

The model gives you the recipe.
The system helps you use it.

Camp is where you learn both, then put them to work on a real TDM challenge.

"When we looked at public transportation through a newcomer's perspective, Kevin’s How People Try New Things system showed us how to better connect commuters with the services they could benefit from using. It’s amazing."

HOW CAMP WORKS

1. Register online.

Complete your registration now.

Camp Registration Closed August 7th, but you have access to this personal invitation page.

You will receive a confirmation email after you register..

2. Work through the system together.

Each camp meeting combines clear instruction, guided work, and group discussion.

You will learn the model and use it to examine real TDM programs.

3. Apply it to your own work.

Bring a current program, campaign, or challenge to camp.

Between meetings, look at it through the How People Try New Things system. Return to the next day of camp with your observations and questions.

No formal homework is necessary.

This is not a lecture-style training. We will all gather around camp to learn together.

WHAT DOES THE REGISTRATION INCLUDE?

  • Three live, 90-minute working meetings.
  • Guided exercises using your own work.
  • Practical examples from real TDM projects.
  • Time to compare what you find with other campers.
  • Live questions and group discussion.
  • Recordings of all three meetings.

No advance preparation is required.

You do not need a finished project or formal case study.

Come with one real program, service, campaign, or challenge in mind.

Camp will guide you through the rest.

Join as a Founding Camper.

This is the first Try New Things Camp.

Your questions, examples, and feedback will help shape and modernize the people side of TDM.

If Camp doesn't deliver, you get your money back.

My top goal is for Camp to be the most valuable time you spend all year.

If you take part and decide Camp was not worth the $197 registration fee, email me and I’ll refund your registration.

No complicated process. No explanation required.

"Kevin and his team have established themselves as international leaders in the practical application of behavioural science principles. They don't just make suggestions based on scientific theory. They are exceptional at using behavioral science expertise to identify solutions that truly work in the real world. After implementing their suggestions, our community engagement strategies led tens of thousands of people to take action."

MAKE THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB EASIER

Make decisions with more confidence.

Give more people a real chance to find transportation options that improve their lives.

Without a clear view of the adoption journey, the same cycle continues:

  • Another outreach event.
  • Another campaign and incentive.
  • More hard work.

The same uncertainty about why program fall short of your expectations.

You keep swimming upstream without knowing whether your work addresses the place where people are actually stuck.
