EVER WONDER WHY IT IS SO HARD TO GET PEOPLE
TO TRY NEW WAYS OF GETTING AROUND?

 IT'S NOT JUST YOU.

You create a good program, service, or transportation option.

And still:

  • People ignore an option that could help them.
  • They say they will try it, then never take the first trip.
  • They try once, then return to their old routine.

You work hard. The results can still fall short.

A good transportation option can still go unused.

Our field has plenty of useful ingredients: marketing, outreach, incentives, technology, and behavior change theories.

What has been missing is the recipe: one clear way to understand the whole journey people take when trying something new.

Without it, it is hard to see where people are stuck or what kind of help they need.

HOW PEOPLE TRY NEW THINGS IS KNOWABLE.

After 28 years in TDM, I built the system I could not find.

It draws on more than 325 academic papers and books, advanced training with BJ Fogg and the Cialdini Institute, and nearly three decades of TDM practice. That includes designing and delivering programs in five countries across three continents.

The model

See the path one person takes from their current routine to considering, trying, and deciding whether to continue with something new.

The system

Use that understanding across audiences, programs, services, and campaigns.

It helps you:

  • See where people are getting stuck.
  • Understand what moves them forward or holds them back.
  • Know where to focus your work next.

The model gives you the recipe.
The system helps you use it.

Camp is where you learn both, then put them to work on a real TDM challenge.

HOW CAMP WORKS

1. Register online.

Complete the short checkout and pay the $197 registration by credit card.

You will receive a confirmation email with everything you need to join.

2. Work through the system together.

Each meeting combines clear instruction, guided work, and group discussion.

You will build the model, connect it into a practical system, and use it to examine real TDM work.

3. Apply it to your own work.

Bring a program, service, campaign, or challenge to mind.

Between meetings, look at it through the system. Return with your observations, questions, and what you found.

No formal presentation is required.

You will leave with more than notes from a seminar. You will have used the system to see your own work differently.

WHAT DOES THE REGISTRATION INCLUDE?

  • Three live, 90-minute working meetings.
  • The Camp Field Guide and visual models.
  • Guided exercises using your own work.
  • Practical examples from real TDM projects.
  • Time to compare what you find with other practitioners.
  • Live questions and group discussion.
  • Recordings of all three meetings.

No advance preparation is required.

You do not need a finished project or formal case study.

Come with one real program, service, campaign, or challenge in mind.

Camp will guide you through the rest.

Join as a Founding Camper.

This is the first Camp.

Your questions, examples, and feedback will help shape how Camp and its tools develop.

Camp should earn its place in your work.

If you take part and decide Camp was not worth $197, email me and I will refund your registration.

No complicated process. No explanation required.

MAKE THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB EASIER

Learn and use the How People Try New Things System so you can:

  • See where people are getting stuck.
  • Understand what moves them forward or holds them back.
  • Know where to focus your work.

Make decisions with more confidence.

Give more people a real chance to find transportation options that improve their lives.

Without a clearer view of the journey, the same cycle continues:

Another outreach event.

Another campaign.

Another incentive.

More hard work.

The same uncertainty about why people did not move.

You keep swimming upstream without knowing whether your work addresses the place where people are actually stuck.

A good transportation option can still go unused.

But how people try new things is knowable.

When you understand the journey and apply the system to your work, you can make better decisions about how to help.
